Frequently Asked Questions: Q - Can I play my ipod through the audio system? A - Certain 2006 and 2007 Lexus vehicles are equipped with AUX input ports for audio players. The IS series (06 & 07), ES (2007), GX (2007), and the LS(2007) have AUX input ports located in the center console (IS, ES, LS) or on the center console(GX). To connect your device you will need an audio cable with two 3.5mm mini jacks.
Q - Can I roll down the windows on my vehicle before I get in? A - Yes, you can. If you press and hold the unlock button on your remote key or fob, the windows will roll down and the moon roof will slide open. This operation can be deactivated, ask at the service department on your next visit.
Q - How do I update the navigation system? A- The navigation in your Lexus vehicle is either a DVD or Hard drive based system. DVD systems are updated by replacing the DVD disc with a new disc that provides more recent map information. The hard drive based systems must be updated using equipment located at the dealership. Navigation updates, released once a year, are normally in stock in the parts department.
Q - I want to get a Bluetooth enabled phone to use in my new car. Which is the best one? A - There are many different phones available now, and each provider has several different models. Lexus has tested certain models and determined their compatibility. If you would like to view the recommended phones, visit our Product Specialist or click here to log on the Lexus Bluetooth website.
Q - My Lexus has a Smart Key. I was told that there is a mechanical key also. Where is the mechanical key located, and what is it used for? A - The Smart Key is actually two keys. There is an electronic key and mechanical key joined together. The electronic portion is a transmitter that emits a signal that notifies the vehicle that it is present. The mechanical key (located inside the electronic key) may be used to lock/unlock doors, glove compartment, and the rear seat trunk pass-thru. On certain vehicles it may also be used to unlock the trunk.
